What is a specific power of attorney?

A specific power of attorney refers to different types of power of attorney documents that deal with specific matters in Singapore, excluding HDB flats. It grants someone (known as the “attorney” or “donee”) the authority to act on behalf of another person (known as the “principal” or “donor”) in limited and specific areas as defined within the document.

Types of specific power of attorney includes:

  • all affairs
  • immovable property or properties, eg. private properties in Singapore such as landed houses or private apartments
  • motor vehicles, such as cars
