Should I sign my document before a Commissioner or Notary Public?

In general, please note as follows:

  1. if your document is to be used in Singapore, you are likely to sign it before a Commissioner for Oaths
  2. if your document is to be used overseas, ie. outside Singapore, you are likely to sign it before a Notary Public

Prior to making your appointment with a Commissioner or Notary Public, you should always check with your recipient of your document on his exact requirements. We are unable to advise you on your recipient’s requirements.
